Why study Marketing
The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Marketing is equivalent to one A Level. You will study three key units over 2 years:
- Unit 1: Careers in Marketing – explore the wide range of career pathways within the marketing industry.
- Unit 2: Marketing Principles – develop knowledge of marketing concepts, strategies, and consumer behaviour.
- Unit 3: Customer Communications – learn how to design, present, and evaluate effective communication with customers.
Entry Requirements
In addition to our general entry requirements, you must have:
- ■ GCSE English – grade 3
- ■ GCSE Maths – grade 3
We would expect all students to show considerable enthusiasm for IT.
The Course
- Participation in recruitment-style activities to develop employability and presentation skills.
- Opportunities to work with local employers on projects and case studies.
- Enrichment through educational trips and industry visits to see marketing in action.

Course Structure and Assessment
- Two units are internally assessed through coursework assignments.
- One unit is externally assessed by examination (held in January).
- The mixture of assessment methods helps develop both practical skills and exam technique.
Additional Information
- Equivalent to one A Level, making it ideal to study alongside other Level 3 qualifications.
- Emphasis on developing transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
