What are the entry requirements?
You'll need a grade 2 in GCSE English.
What will you learn?
You'll build your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through discussion, debate, role play and analysing both fiction and non-fiction texts, working up through Level 1 to Level 2 Functional Skills.
How does this connect to GCSE English?
If you pass Level 1, you'll also be entered for the GCSE exam, where a grade 3 counts as good progress, with the aim of reaching a grade 4 in your second year.
