Fashion Design Introductory Diploma

Fashion & Textile Design encourages you to experiment and develop your own creative approach to fashion, from concept through to finished garment. You’ll build a genuine fashion portfolio, preparing you for a career or degree in this fast-moving, creative industry.

What are the entry requirements?
You’ll need four GCSEs at grades 9 to 4. You'll need a grade 3 in GCSE English and a grade 4 in GCSE Art (or a Merit in Level 2 Art & Design). GCSE Art & Design Fashion or Textiles at grade 4, together with a portfolio, will also be considered.
What will you learn?
You'll cover the creative elements of fashion and textiles through studio sessions and workshops, exploring specialist areas including fashion illustration, upcycling and fine art textiles.
What's involved in the coursework?
All six units are internally assessed and moderated by the exam board, with a strong emphasis on annotated sketchbooks and written evaluation alongside your practical work.
What can this course lead to?
This course supports progression to a foundation or honours degree, internships, or careers in fashion design, buying, journalism, merchandising, PR or retail.
