ICT & Cyber Diploma

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and cyber security come together on this course, giving you a hands-on route into one of the most in-demand industries around. You’ll work with up-to-date hardware and software, build websites and digital graphics, and investigate how to keep networks and data safe from real-world threats.

What are the entry requirements?
You’ll need a grade 3 in GCSE English and a grade 3 in GCSE Maths. We’d love you to bring real enthusiasm for technology, too.
What will you learn?
You’ll explore how computer systems work, how information is stored, processed and shared, and how technology supports businesses and organisations. Throughout the course, you’ll develop practical skills in programming, website development, database management and computer games development. You’ll learn how to design, create, test and improve digital solutions, including developing your own applications, interactive websites and computer games. A key part of the course is Cyber Security and Incident Management, where you’ll investigate real-world cyber threats such as hacking, malware, phishing and social engineering. You’ll learn how organisations identify security vulnerabilities, assess risks and implement security measures to protect systems, networks and sensitive information. You’ll also explore how cyber security incidents are investigated, including the use of digital forensic evidence, and how organisations respond to attacks and recover from security breaches. Through practical assignments, real-world scenarios and externally assessed units, you’ll develop problem-solving, analytical thinking, creativity, teamwork and technical skills, preparing you for university, higher apprenticeships and future careers in the IT industry.
What skills will I build?
Beyond the technical know-how, you’ll build communication, teamwork and self-management skills through practical work, case studies, discussions and individual research. The course rewards steady, consistent progress, so you’ll be expected to attend every class and meet your deadlines, with plenty of support from your tutors along the way.
What can this course lead to?
Technology and cyber security are fast-moving areas with plenty of opportunities. You could become a cyber security analyst, network engineer, digital forensic investigator or ethical hacker, in sectors like finance, healthcare and government. The qualification also supports progression to university courses such as Cyber Security, Computer Science or Network Engineering, or to an apprenticeship in a related field.
